Edelweiss Preorder
Book Description

Unlock fresh creative energy with experimental acrylic and mixed media techniques from artist and TV presenter Jenny Muncaster a playful, practical painting guide for beginners and improvers.

With the same wide-ranging, irreverent and unabashedly experimental approach to art that she shows in Amazon TV’s The Artist in You, Jenny Muncaster demonstrates the magic of acrylic paints in this, her first book! Discover:

  • An exploration of versatile acrylics: acrylic paints are available in different kinds, each with its own unique character, consistency and techniques. This book explores how each one behaves, and how they can be used on their own or combined for more dynamic, exciting results.
  • Wide-ranging mixed media techniques: Jenny explains how to incorporate additional media into acrylic work, with pens, texture paste, collage, mirror foil and gold leaf, and demonstrates printing, painting with feathers, using a palette knife, spattering and sponging to create some truly exciting results.
  • Contemporary exercises, projects and artistic tips: 8 fun, hands-on projects are included, with lots of exciting ‘wow!’ moments and varied styles explored throughout from impasto textures to incorporating a bit of bling.
  • A behind-the-scenes peek into a paint factory: Discover how acrylic paints are made at the factory of world-renowned art company, Daler-Rowney.
  • A collection of Jenny’s inspiring finished works: Jenny shares her techniques and ideas by picking out details from her inspiring art for the reader to you in their own creative work.

This exciting and experimental book is perfect for those looking to bring a little more joy, colour and playfulness into their acrylic painting.

About the Author

About Jenny Muncaster

‘I love sharing all I’ve discovered through years of painting, but what gives me the greatest pleasure is seeing people take an idea and make it their own. We might start with the same materials and techniques, but everyone brings their own personality and imagination to the process. That’s when the real magic happens, when something uniquely yours begins to emerge.’

Jenny Muncaster graduated from Winchester School of Art with a Honours Degree in Printed Textiles. Her work focuses on mixed media and acrylics, with her paintings exhibited and sold internationally. She also takes commissions, creating personalized paintings inspired by people’s favourite ingredients, objects and collections. Jenny is the founder of the award-winning Colour Factory Studios & Gallery in Winchester, UK, a much-loved and thriving creative hub where she works and teaches alongside a community of artists. When Jenny’s not painting in her studio, she’s either teaching and presenting, or filming and creating inspiring video tutorials, as well as developing and testing art materials, paints and mediums. Jenny loves engaging with audiences on all things creative, encouraging everyone to get their paintbrushes out and simply have a go!
